Abstract

his study aims to analyze the contextual factors that mediate the response of catfish farmers in Lasiana Village, Kupang City, to the extension program on the utilization of aquaculture wastewater as liquid fertilizer. The population as well as the sample amounted to 15 people, taken by total sampling (census) to obtain a comprehensive picture. Data were collected through a qualitative approach using semi-structured in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and documentation, then analyzed thematically. The results showed that the adoption of this innovation was complexly mediated by internal (understanding, variation in technical knowledge, and polarization of attitudes by age group) and external (operational challenges and institutional support) factors. The findings provide practical implications for businesses to establish collective waste treatment units, as well as for extension workers and local governments to design more differentiated and sustainable mentoring programs to realize a resilient circular agribusiness business model.
